There are two ways to take a blood sample at home:
Capillary ( Finger prick) taking your blood from the ends of your fingertips
Venous, (from the vein) this is done by a trained professional like a doctor, nurse or Phlebotomist.
We provide Kits for both methods dependant on your needs and the type of test you have purchased.
If you know someone who can take your blood sample just click Venous kit at the checkout and we will send one of these kits to you free of charge we do offer a phlebotomy Service, a trained phlebotomist will come to your home and take your sample. Just click Home Phlebotomy at Checkout.
Follow the instructions on the reverse of this leaflet to take your sample.
Write your Name and Date of Birth on the label then wrap the label around the vial. Place into the protective packaging.
After adding the time and date on the lab form, place the form and the sample in the envelope provided.
Post your sample on the day you take it. Do not post on a Friday. We strongly recommend sending Special Delivery

Self Addressed Envelope
Place your sample in the self addressed envelope provided and post to the lab.

Self Addressed Envelope
Place your sample in the self addressed envelope provided and post to the lab.
FOR SUCCESSFUL SAMPLE COLECTION
Make sure you are hydrated Drink at least 1 litre of water 20 mins before taking your sample.
Do Some gentle exercise or take a warm shower. get the blood flowing.
Do not squeeze blood from your finger, it can damage the blood cells. Fill to the marked line.
Take your sample in the morning between Monday and Thursday and ensure to get it in the post on the same day.
If you have asked for FBC or HBA1C you will have a purple vial as well as the Yellow vial. Fill your Purple vial first.
Once you have collection your sample Flip the tube 10 times forward and backward. Do not shake. Always Label your sample.
ALWAYS LABEL YOUR VIALS AND ENCLOSE YOUR LAB FORM OR YOUR SAMPLE MAY NOT BE TESTED!
